Romantic Wedding Flowers to Match Your Style

Flowers. If you have been following our content for any length of time you know that we ADORE lush wedding flowers. They provide so much texture, movement, and personality to our designs. One arrangement can drastically change a setting. Take our boho beach wedding styled shoot for instance. We took the job because we knew we could bring life to that bare beach! Three arrangements later and the scene was set. It’s like magic! You can just call me Hermione.

Couples often leave wedding flowers as one of their last choices which means the vision and style for the day has already been set. Although we are wedding florists, I am not here to change your mind about that! I actually love when there is already a well-defined style because then we can show couples how to create a floral design that compliments their personality! There are three things we aim to achieve with every event:

  1. Colors that compliment the style, not necessarily match the wedding colors.

  2. Designs that are versatile enough to be moved and cover all of the most trafficked areas.

  3. Designs that are unique and bring the space to life!

Today we want to talk about the last point and give you our best tips to make your wedding flowers true to your love story. First, we need to know your style! You can take our style quiz here if you are right at the beginning of your engagement and not quite certain yet. Knowing your colors is crucial as well so head here and work that out if you have not.

Next, think of all of the places that people will interact most. Where will photos be taken consistently? How long will guests spend in each area of the event space? We find that the most common places that require arrangements are

  1. Front of Ceremony

  2. Sweetheart Table

  3. Guest Tables

  4. Dance Floor or Photo Op area

Now, apply what you know about your style to the design of these areas. Are you a quirky couple having a boho beach wedding? How about pampas and proteas in your wedding flowers? Maybe you are a couple of old souls having a vintage wedding. Perhaps you could use more texture like frizzle tulips and neutral colors that make a statement like quicksand roses. You could be a glamorous couple going for a lush look so garden roses and dinner plate dahlias would be more appropriate. Think it over and create a Pinterest board with your partner to communicate your vision to a professional florist.

Lastly, turn those spaces into interesting pieces! This is my favorite part of design. Does your venue have any architecture you could use for a focal point? Stairs, visible ceiling beams, pergolas, mantles, all of these can be turned into floral masterpieces! Do not think of what has been done in the past. Instead, look at your space and dream up what could be for your day! Gather inspiration images and crop and paste them into something new you can share with designers. make a crude sketch. Don’t be afraid to float, hang, stack, and tuck flowers in all sorts of places! Let yourself be visible in all elements, especially your wedding floral.
